Our story began in the Second World War when Roger Jullian, a French prisoner of war, devoted himself to designing the perfect Sketch box Easel. When the war ended, he returned to France and formed the Jullian Company employing French craftsmen to produce the easel from the highest quality materials. Whether the artist uses the easel at home, scales the mountain peaks or deepest jungle, the Jullian easel has been the best choice for over fifty years.

The first stepping stone in the history of Roger Jullian, designer and inventor of this ingenious product and bench mark of our quality which has been copied many times but never equalled.

Designed for travelling, it is still the contemporary standard for outdoor painting and has been praised by painters since the 19th century. In a similar vein to the writers folding desk, the Jullian easel recreates the magic of the grand tour, the long distance journey. Made from premium grade beechwood and furnished with solid brass fittings, the Jullian offers the artist unrivalled flexibility for most artistic needs.

• The mahogany finished palette - which folds in the half size version - acts as a drawer lid when not in use.
• The saddler quality leather handle and the adjustable carrying strap give comfortable options whilst travelling and as finishing touch, the fine leather luggage tag clearly identifies the owner.
